If you haven’t been to IKEA lately, you have to make it a point to go for one thing only… faux plants. They have these adorable and very real looking plants right now. I’ve been twice and literally both times walked out with 4 or 5 of them. They come in a few different varieties including a really cute lambs ear. As much as I like my real plants, sometimes it’s just easier, right? Plus I can’t always get natural light where I want to put a plant.
The only crappy part of these plants is the black plastic pot they come in, so I have thought of different ways to “plant” them in pots including this cute stenciled wood crate I’ll show you today.
No IKEA near you? I found my favorite plants on Amazon, so no problem!

Stenciled Wood Crate
Supplies:
Black Gloss Enamel Craft Paint
Wood Crate
Instructions:
Start by sanding your crate down. I then spray painted it with chalk paint spray paint. Next, I stenciled on my words. You can finish off your piece with a cream wax to seal it if you want.
I think it looks great on my desk!
I love this! So cute and so creative. I was roaming around a linky party, and discovered your blog. It has been fun looking around.
Great! I’m so glad you found me. Welcome!
I have a corner that this would look perfect in. Saving this to my home projects file. Thanks for the inspiration.

What a gorgeous planter! I need to do something like this, too. I don’t have much hope of keeping indoor plants alive, so fake ones are best. Haha.
Super fun wood planter / holder DIY. Thanks for sharing at the #InspirationSpotlight @DearCreatives shared.

Your welcome! Thanks for hosting!
cute craft, thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday! Last time I was in IKEA I was actually really disappointed that they had replaced a whole room of the real thing with faux, (since i have gotten some great plants there without the husband really noticing!) but I guess taking care of the plastic ones simplifies things greatly! Maybe i ought to take a cue from them, then again, maybe some of each?
I agree! I love a combination of both! IKEA does have great real plants also!
I love using greenery for my spring home decor, although I hate the time and effort to take care of them. I am going to have to take a trip to Ikea this weekend. This is such a cute planter; perfect for a french country home!
Thank you, Charlotte! I love that I can have a combo of real and faux. I hope you find some great ones!
Very cute idea, Amy!
I love that you used fake plants in this adorable planter because those are the kind I can actually deal with. Lol! My live plants only get watered when they are wilting!

Thanks for the idea! No Ikea near us, so I was more than thrilled to find similar plants at Target the other day…..on sale even! Their pots are a little nicer, but always fun to dress them up this way.
