Winter Home Tour

Hello!  I'm super honored to be hosting my first home tour today!  I've participated in a bunch of tours, but have never hosted and organized one myself!  You are in for a treat as 12 bloggers have opened their homes to show you their winter decor.  Yes, you can actually decorate for winter and I think you'll find that after the festive decor of Christmas, it is a welcome reprieve!  Have I convinced you yet? If not, stick with me and I'll give you some of my favorite tips for after Christmas transitioning that I think you'll love!

If you are new here, welcome! I am so glad you stopped by.

As much as I enjoy my house during other seasons of the year, I actually really love how my home looks and feels during the winter.  It could be the use of texture which is prevalent throughout.  I have slowly been transitioning from lots of color to a mostly neutral decor.  Though it is neutral, texture keeps it warm and cozy without being bland or boring.

I love pillows and throws and using these alongside cozy knits and touches of rustic wood and greenery are calm and simple.  It's the time of year which I enjoy most being in my home, snuggling with my kids by the fireplace, having a glass of wine, and enjoying some Netflix.

We are going to start right inside the front door.

I purchased this black bench a few months ago, but just recently moved it from our office into the entryway.  It is a perfect fit and I couldn't be happier with how it looks.  It gives us a little more space in this small area and also provides a seat for putting on shoes!

Next up is the family room. I shared all the details on my Simple Winter Mantel in this post.  Along with the tutorial for the wood slice garland HERE.

I have a collection of cloches with winter snow scenes on my tv stand.  These were all decked out for Christmas and were easily changed over to winter with just a few adjustments.  I'll share more about these in an upcoming post!

My dining room is our next stop on the tour.  I used a galvanized tray to create a super simple centerpiece of pinecones and candlesticks.

Finally, here is my white kitchen.  You can read all about how I DIY painted my cabinets.  HERE.

Here are some of my favorite ways to transition from Christmas to winter decor:

•Keep the greenery alive~ I love greenery in the winter.  I kept my same little evergreen trees used in my Christmas decor and transitioned them for winter by adding them to my mantel

•Remove the red.  Red screams festive and to move into the calmness of winter, pack up the red and instead chose a more subdued palette.

•Add cozy textures and warm blankets to add warmth to your space.

•Add lots of rustic touches with pinecones and wood.
