Hello, friends! Today is our monthly Silhouette Challenge day! We decided this month to stick to a Halloween and/ or Fall theme for our projects. I chose to make a piece of artwork that would work with my fall decor. Even if you do not have a Silhouette, this is a great project to freehand or use a stencil.
I love the look of burlap and thought it would be fun to create a project that would work with my Book Themed Mantel; however, this would look great in many areas of my home, so I can definitely see myself moving it around.
I have heard that you can actually print onto burlap, so I may have to try that in the future, but for this “Hello Fall” project, I used my Silhouette and created a stencil to paint. Once you’ve got the idea of how to make a stencil with your Silhouette, the possibilities are endless!
To begin this project, these are the supplies you will need.
SUPPLIES:
Silhouette Cameo or Fall Stencil of your choice
Craft Paint (your choice of colors)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Use your Silhouette Cameo to create a stencil of your choice. If you do not have a Silhouette you can use a pre-made stencil or create your own. For my stencil, I created the picture that I wanted using a font I liked and an image of a leaf. Then to cut, you set your machine to CUT EDGE. I used cardstock since it was heavier and would hold up a little better with painting. Once cut, pick out the middle and what is left is your stencil.
2. Cut your burlap to the size you want.
3. Using craft paint, I painted the inside of the stencil. Allow to dry
4. Frame your masterpiece!
I love the way it ties in the colors of the mantel.
This was so simple and I can see using this same idea for many future projects.
