Painted Antique Table Using a Paint Sprayer

Taking an outdated piece of furniture and revamping it is a simple DIY project with a paint sprayer.

Do you have any outdated furniture in your home that just isn't your style anymore?  I tend to be a sentimental person so things passed on to me I often can't bear to part with even if it doesn't fit with our decor. Well, today I'm showing you one way you can take that outdated piece and revamp it to fit your current style and home through paint!  If a piece is of real value, you may decide to refinish it instead, but if it is something more sentimental than valuable, painting it is a great solution.  My husband's brother is getting married this weekend and we are looking forward to spending time together celebrating.  As a special treat for the newlywed's, I took on a DIY project.  A special table had been in my husband's family for as long as he can remember.  After literally carting it ourselves to two different houses and now with the possibility of a third, we decided it needed a makeover and a new home.  As a little addition to their wedding present, we plan to give them the table with a whole new look.

Using a Sprayer to Paint an Antique Table

I'm super excited to share with you how easy it was to do this makeover using a Wagner Studio Home Decor Sprayer. I have painted a lot of furniture in the last few years, but never with a sprayer, so when I had the opportunity to try the Wagner Studio Home Decor Sprayer, I was thrilled.  After reading through the instructions and putting it together in just minutes, I got right to work on my table.

I love all the curves and details on this table but always hesitated to paint it even though the top is in rough shape simply because of all the work it would require to get into all the grooves.  I found out right away that using a paint sprayer was definitely the way to go.  Not only did it save me sooooo much time, but the finish was smooth without any drips or clumps.  The paint was evenly spread throughout the piece and went on quickly. For this piece, I decided to go neutral and chose Sherwin Williams Alabaster for the paint.

I loved the ease of using it and with adjustable spray patterns and control, I had my table painted within no time!

To finish the piece, I distressed it lightly with a sandpaper block and did a brush coat of clear wax.   I LOVE it so much!~  Now it's going to be hard giving it away!

I am so thrilled with my new discovery and can't wait to put it to work again on all my home decor and craft projects, upcycles, and furniture.  Have you tried one before?  What would be the first thing you would use yours to do?

Here's to hoping I can actually part now with this beautiful table!!

  3. I just came across this piece while researching on paint sprayers. I agree that knowing how to repaint with a paint sprayer can truly bring old pieces back to life.

The benefit I even love the most is that you don’t have to pay thousands to the handyman or even purchase a new piece. All you need is a good paint sprayer, a spray paint, and minimum skill. And with a guide like this, it’s easy to put everything together. Thanks for putting this guide together.
