One Room Challenge {ORC}: Week #3 Modern Vintage Sports Bedroom

Half way there, friends!  Today is Week #3 of the One Room Challenge.  If you've been following along, then you might understand the sense of panic that has come over me. #notenoughtime.  To top it off, we are off on vacation for the next 7 days!  Yes, can't complain about that, but really need to get moving to finish this room in time!

To recap where we are at this week here is the inspiration board.

We've tackled the design plan, installed the board and batten and have the walls painted.

This week, I tackled some storage solutions.  Grant's bedroom is the smallest one of the four in our home.  With one wall a closet, one wall a large window and one wall with a door, it doesn't leave much room for large pieces of furniture.  In searching for the right items for this room, I wanted to avoid heavy pieces that would way the room down.  We had already purchased his bed from Target and I loved the metal industrial look.

We decided to go with one bookshelf and we found it at Target as well.  It is open shelving which will make it easier for him to pull bins off and {hopefully!} put them away.  It has the same industrial metal look which will complement his bed.

I think I'm going to go with a variety of mixed storage solutions for the space.  He has lots of toys from little guys to big sets so for now, I picked up some canvas bins from Target to put on the shelf.  I am going to be on the lookout for some vintage storage pieces as well.

On the other side of the window, I have plans to make a small desk for him.  Small is the key word.  Not only do we have the window, but his closet door is on the other wall so it is a narrow space.

Ok.  So we have walls, a bed, and a bookshelf.

Up next is some shopping for accessories!

See you back here next week for Week #4.
