Life with Our New Dog, Irving

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and The J.M. Smucker Company, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #miloskitchen http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

Today, I'm sharing with you, Milo's home-style dog treats, and how I learned about love at first sight! Last spring, after our cat of 17 years passed away, my kids began talking about getting a dog. My husband likes to say we are “cat people,” so I wasn't exactly sure we ever would get a dog.

My excuse to the kid's last spring was we needed to wait until after our trip to South Africa. There was no way we would get a dog and then leave it for two weeks. Well, my kids didn't give up or forget. They forget everything else, lol but definitely not a discussion on getting a dog. South Africa came and went and the topic of a dog didn't die. On a rainy day about mid-July, I was getting sick of the “I'm bored's,” so I said let's go to the rescue shelter.

We definitely won't be getting anything I told the kids, but we could look. Someone way more knowledgeable about the cuteness of dogs should have stopped me right there. (See where this is going, friends?)

Not realizing what I was getting myself into, we made our way to the first shelter. After a few look arounds, we were really getting the hang of this playing with dogs thing. I, however, stayed strong on the whole, “We are just looking around,” thing until this.

Like really?! I mean I saw him and it was just all kinds of love. He was so absolutely pathetic and when we got him out of that cage, I just had to have him.

Needless to say, he's won over even daddy, his hardest critic, with how cute and very lovable he is.

He has brightened our lives and given every one of us joy. It's hard to imagine life without him now after only just a few months.

Irving is a part of our family and just like that, we are learning how to be dog parents.

One of the ways we've learned is with the food and treats we give him. In training him to walk on a leash and for fun little treats throughout the day, we buy Milo's Kitchen home-style dog treats for the win!  I purchased these at my local Meijer Store.  I want him to have the same quality of ingredients and care that I have for my own food and Milo's home-style dog treats contain 100% real chicken, beef, duck or sweet potato as the #1 ingredient.  They are made totally free of artificial flavors or color, right here in the USA.  Irving absolutely loves them and I feel good about what I am giving him!

  3. Ohhhhh he is the cutest pup, especially with the bow tie! I am so glad you got him from the shelter and are spreading the word about it!

There is no way I’d have been able to say no to that face either! Irving is adorable! It’s funny – my husband and I had a similar experience when we adopted our dog. We were “just going to look” and of course there was no way I was leaving that shelter without a dog!

OMG! He is adorable and that bow tie?? So cute! Thank you for going to the shelter to get a pup who really needed a home. He will give your kids more lessons in responsibility than anything else and of course unconditional love. Enjoy!!
