Fall Decorating Without Red & Orange

I did all my fall decorating this year without any red or orange!  Come see how I used my current house colors and decorated for the fall season.

Continuing my theme of decorating simply with what you have, I am going to show you how with a few quick changes my family room got a new seasonal look.  Using my current color palette of gray, cream, and greens in this room only, I decorated for fall.  I love reds and oranges, but they just don't fit well in this room, so instead of fighting it, I once again embraced a more neutral, soft and subtle palette for the season.

I gathered numerous pumpkins together and made an arrangement on the mantel.  I will be showing you more of this look and how it came together later this week in a separate post.

My summer family room had pops of pink throughout. You can see the full Peaceful Palette here, (LINK).To update for this season, I simply changed out the gray and white checked pillow covers to dark gray velvet and the flowered pillow covers to these knit gray ones.  I picked these up at IKEA but have linked some similar ones for you below. This new “Cuddle Weather” pillow at Joann Fabrics was just too cute to pass up!

Just by changing out the pillows and updating my mantel, the whole look of this room has shifted into a more warm and cozy space for the new season.

Irving's getting more used to being a blog model now!  Doesn't he look cute and oh so comfy?

Hello Amy, this is really great advice! Our family is planning to rebuild the house, and is expected to be completed early next year. I am looking for some room decor, I like the way you mix colors in this room. Great!

Great tips, Amy! My husband and I are planning to redecorate our home this fall and in as much as we love red and orange, we’re planning to steer away from it this time. I love the colours you used here and I’m definitely taking these tips. We just got a glass pool fence installed a few months ago for the pool and we are planning to add a fire pit this season.
