Embracing Life’s Changes and An Exciting Announcement!

Well it certainly has been a whirlwind summer around here.  From our epic vacation to the announcement I'm about to give you, it has been a summer I won't forget.

We are MOVING!

I'm happy and sad. Before we go into all the details, let me back up and give you a brief background on how we came to this decision.

It's hard being a mom.  Yep, I said it.  Being a mom is not easy.  You have sleepless nights, you cry, and your agonize over your decisions.  And ultimately you almost always choose what's best for them over what's comfortable or easy for yourself. Well, that's where we've been.  We've prayed and prayed about what is in our daughter's best interest and ultimately we've decided that we need to move into a different school district.  We did our research, we toured schools, we had testing done and ultimately we kept coming back to the same conclusion.

So, I'm sad.

I never wanted to move.  I'll miss my bathroom.  I'll miss my basement.  I'll miss my closet. I'll miss my neighbors.  Yes,  I am whining.

But, I'm happy.  When you trust in God's plan, you can feel peace about your decision.  It will be good for us. It will be good for her.

And we are blessed.  We are blessed with the resources to do this move and to make it work for our family.  I'm very aware that this isn't an option for a lot of people, so with that said, I am embracing this new life change and praying for a smooth transition.

And it's an opportunity.  An opportunity to have an adventure and to create a new home for our family.

The house checks a lot of the boxes, most of all location, but what it doesn't check is the kitchen of my dreams, a laundry room, or my cement tile in my bathroom, but hopefully, with some TLC and some creative inspiration, it will someday check all those too.  What it does have is a whole lot of space and a pool. (Not sure I wanted one, but I'm getting one anyway, lol).

As always, I am so grateful for this community where I can be honest and vulnerable.  I appreciate you following along and now I'm ready to take you on a whole new adventure!  I'll be sharing lots more details in the coming weeks, but we are hoping to sell our home quickly and get moved by November.

I welcome any suggestions on moving!  We've been here 12 years so I am definitely feeling a bit overwhelmed with it all!

And even where to start.  And how to properly mourn my bathroom. 🙂

P.S.  After much thought and consideration, the hosts of the Wednesday Moonlight & Mason Jars Link Party have decided to suspend the party and instead concentrate our efforts elsewhere.  Thank you to those who actively participated all these months.  I enjoyed so much being a host and will certainly miss all your great link ideas! I hope you will still continue to join me here at the blog.

To life feeling like home!

XO,

A truly selfless decision, Amy! One that you won’t regret doing fir your daughter when you look back from years down the road! We’ve moved many times in our married life and my biggest piece of advice is to start packing as soon as you can… dont leave a ton for that last week! Excited to see your new home!

  2. Emily says:

I know how much you love your current home (and you know how much I love your bathroom tile!), but I am excited to see what this move brings for you & your family and the opportunities it’ll bring your daughter! If you need an extra hand to pack or move boxes, you know where to find me 😉

  3. I am gonna miss your bathroom too! It is one of my faves! 🙂

Moving is an adventure. Not only will you unpack boxes, but you will get to unpack a whole new world of adventure for your family. AND you get to add your decorative touch to a new space…and I look forward to what you make of it because I know it will be great!

    • Amy says:

Thank you, Randi! I am truly excited now. It just took me awhile to come around. I can’t wait to get my hands on some of the new rooms, lol!

  4. Amy, big hugs to you. I know it must’ve been such a hard decision! You have done such amazing work on your home but that can all be done again as you embark on your new adventure creating a new home in your new house. Your daughter is so lucky to have such selfless parents as you guys! Good luck with the move and I’ll be following along. Xo

    • Amy says:

Thank you, Tee! I appreciate your sweet comments about our home. It has been a beautiful place to make so many memories, but I know that an all-new adventure awaits!

  5. Cornelia says:

Good Luck! God will be watching over you and your family every step of the way, it’s hard too let go of a home you’ve spent 12 years in creating but you will be taking the most important things with you ? As a Mother I applaud your decision and it’s okay to mourn your beautiful home but I’m sure you will make this new one even better as only a Great Momma can with love overflowing from your heart!
    Cornelia

    • Amy says:

Thank you for your sweet words, Cornelia! We sold last weekend to the most beautiful family that I’m convinced God put in our path. They will love the house and I feel so good leaving it in their hands. We are looking forward to our new adventure and what is in store for our family next.

  6. Andrew says:

    Your kitchen is beautiful!

  7. Kim says:

So many projects on the horizon for you, family first is always the best decision!

  8. Wow Amy – this is the most selfless thing a mom (parents) will ever do for their daughter. We too will mourn the loss of your gorgeous bathroom 🙂 You can replace that bathroom, and closet, and kitchen…but not your daughter’s well-being. You and your husband are amazing to put her needs ahead of your own. New memories will be made in your new home as well as new renovations and new beautiful projects. We can’t wait to follow your journey. We have LOTS of moving experience between the two of us – so we can offer lots of advice. Hugs to you and your adventure ahead.

    • Amy says:

Thank you, Vicki! I am so humbled by your kind words, friend. It’s been hard, but I am really at peace with it now and we are looking forward to a new adventure! I am also itching now to get my hands on some of the new rooms, lol. I have not thought about how we are getting all this stuff packed up though and that probably should be my first priority instead of dreaming of decorating new spaces, ha!

  9. Stacey says:

Amy, you can never go wrong when you are doing something for your littles. Our kids are grown and we just moved into the dream house that we built in the last year. My advice to very seriously purge. Purge like there’s no tomorrow! No kidding…there’s no need to move things that you don’t need, want or love.

    • Amy says:

Great advice, Stacey! I need to purge like a mad woman and after this weekend where we have visitors here, that will definitely be on my to-do list!

  10. Marty Oravetz says:

This will be a fabulous adventure and one that will be so rewarding in the long run. We just moved after 12 years to a “Builder Basic” home closer to family. This house definitely didn’t have the kitchen of my dreams, but with a lot of planning, thrifty shopping it is the kitchen of my dreams on a tiny, tiny budget. Just proves the power of paint, molding and careful planning. Good luck on the move.

  11. I know it is hard for you to leave the house you have worked on (that bathroom!!!!) but I know you need to do the best for your children. I look forward to seeing what you do in your new house! As for the pool, it is a blessing and a curse…So much fun, but so much maintenance, but we love ours!!

    • Amy says:

Thank you, Mary! My kids are dying to jump in that pool. I do think they are going to have to wait until spring otherwise in November it just might be a polar plunge, we’ll see!
