Elegant Summer Mantel in the Dining Room

An elegant summer mantel using candlesticks and milk glass found at a thrift store.

I'm not kidding, everything I am going to show you in today's post is from a thrift store.  I wanted to show you how a little vision and savvy shopping can create a simply elegant look on a dime!  I'm hoping this will get you inspired to hit up your Goodwill or Salvation Army and make your own mantel scape. For cheap, friends!

I'm lucky enough to have this mantel in my dining room.  We actually have not used the fireplace yet, mostly because our dining room was our kitchen and full of boxes all winter during our reno, but I can picture what it would be like to have a gourmet meal with a roaring fire in the background!  If it's me cooking, it won't be gourmet, but it would still be a beautiful setting.

I love thrift store shopping.  It's kind of addicting once you get started.  You just never know what treasure awaits around the next aisle.  I have the usuals that I look for every time I go and some of those things are staples in my home decor.  These are milk glass, antique brass candlesticks, and vintage silver/ brass pots.  All of these are very versatile and can be used in all kinds of ways in your decorating.

This is a mantel hop, so be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom to see lots more summer inspiration for your mantels!

This mantel started with this gold mirror which was $10.  It's in great shape and sets the stage for the rest of the items I added.  (Even that brass fireplace tool set was thrifted!) I like how the mirror reflects the light from our large window across the room.  In front of the mirror, I used mismatched candlesticks, milk glass vases with pretty white roses, and two little pots to round out the display.

One of my favorite things in this dining room is our Claire Chandelier from Ballard Designs (LINK).  It really is elegant and beautiful
