I love traditional pumpkin pie, but am always looking for other pumpkin desserts to add into my seasonal baking routine.  This one proved to be a winner and I wanted to share it with you! I made this in small ramekins (LINK) and I love that it can be made ahead and people can grab their own individual little dishes.  The recipe I used was this one from Lil Luna (LINK). It was super easy to make, only about 10 minutes to prep. I was able to get 6 ramekins from one recipe.  It's creamy and rich full of pumpkin spice and the crunchy topping is a perfect addition!

Add a little whipped cream and cinnamon right before serving.  It can be served warm or cold and the portion is the perfect amount.

I have never made custard before always thinking it was too hard to do.  It was not.  Her tip of adding 1-inch of water to your pan made all the difference in cooking.  The water adds moisture to the dessert while cooking and helps keep your custard smooth and not dried out.
