Each day at least one blogger will be sharing a project of their choice. We can say with full confidence that you are sure to find something to inspire you for this joyful holiday season.
Welcome friends! I am so glad you are here. If you are stopping by, I appreciate the hop and I hope you will be inspired by today's project to do some of your own DIY for Christmas.
I love finding the perfect decor accessory already for me to pluck and take home from my local Target or HomeGoods, but I also enjoy hunting for the not so perfect item and making it my own through a little help with paint and other items.
I recently found this wooden reindeer at Goodwill. I saw that he had so much potential and when I looked at that sad face with the crazy bow, I knew he had to be mine.
My first step in upcycling my Rudolph was to sand and paint him. I used DecoArt paint in the color Everlasting and painted the entire wooden surface.
Next was the fun part! I had never used the product, Snow Tex from DecoArt before. It is a white texturizing product which creates a 3- dimensional effect like snow on whatever you brush it on. It is so cool! You can layer it to get as much of the 3-D effect as you want.
I used it around the feet, on the antlers, tail and basket of my reindeer.
Next using a combination of live greens and fake berry branches, I painted them with Snow Tex and then layers them in his basket.
A plaid bow around his neck and he is good to go!!
Thank you to DecoArt for providing the supplies for this project!
I hope you're feeling the holiday spirit just as much as we are! Be sure to keep popping by the other bloggers throughout the 12 days!
