DIY Candles In Thrift Store Bowls

Easy DIY Candles made in thrift store bowls.  A beautiful gift idea!

Today, I'm sharing another simple DIY project that would make a beautiful gift idea any time of the year.  These DIY candles are made in thrift store crystal bowls that I bought for $1 a piece.  Once you've got your candle making supplies, it is super easy to make your own candles any time.  It will definitely save you money if you enjoy candles as much as I do!  Especially this time of year, I burn candles most of the day.  I love the seasonal scents.  Candles can be pricey if you burn them as much as I do, so I taught myself how to make candles to supplement the ones that I love and to give as gifts.  Who doesn't love a candle?

Supplies for Candle Making

It's a bit of investment initially, but with a few supplies, you can make endless amounts of candles.  I buy most of my candle making supplies on Amazon (Link).

Instructions

  1. Start by melting soy wax over a high heat until melted thoroughly.  Once melted, you can add between 10-20 drops of your favorite scent.
  2. In the meantime, prepare your vessel by attaching your wick to the bottom of your vessel.  I like to use the stickers (above) to attach the wick easily.
  3. Feed your wick through the wick centering device.  That keeps the wick straight when you pour in the hot liquid.
  4. Pour your melted wax into your prepared vessel.
  5. Let sit until completely cool.
  6. Snip wick and use!

You can also add coloring to your hot wax mixture and stir it in before pouring into vessel if you want a colored candle.

I love the crystal bowls!  When they burn, the glass just twinkles and when the candle is done, you can reuse the bowl.

Mason jars are another beautiful vessel to hold your DIY candles.  Here's a DIY Apple Pie Mason Jar Candle (LINK), I made awhile ago. If you aren't interested in making your own, I have several candles in vintage vessels available in White Cottage Home Store (LINK).
