Hi friends, I’m excited to share that I’ve been invited to take part in the monthly Create With Me challenges hosted by Lindi from Love Create Celebrate and Samantha from Little Bits of Home. At the beginning of each month, we will ask YOU to vote on a material to create something from. Then, at the end of the month, we will share our project using that material and host a link party for you to showcase your own projects using the material! How fun is that?!
If you’re new around here or just stopping by for the first time, welcome! I’m Amy. You can read more about me < here> and about my home style < here >. If you want to see more of what I’m doing around this place, you can sign up to receive my email newsletter below.
Last month at the Create With Me party, the winning vote was using a canvas for our projects.
I chose to make a Paris themed canvas for my guest bedroom. My husband and I were engaged in Paris, so it has always been a special place to us. We have a lot of Paris themed decor we received for our wedding and most of it is somehow displayed in our guest bedroom. I thought a canvas art would be a great addition.
Here’s how I made my project.

Supplies:
Map
Brush
Stencil ( your choice)
Instructions:
1. I cut my map to fill the surface of the canvas
2. I used Mod Podge to secure the map to the surface. Let dry.
3. I placed my stencil on the map and positioned it where I wanted it. I cut mine using my Silhouette machine, but a pre-bought one would work fine also. You could even paint the inside of the stencil and leave the map showing on the outside.
4. Paint over the entire surface with your craft paint.
5. Peel away stencil and let dry completely. I then took a sanding block and distressed the paint for a worn look.
6. Finally, I sealed it with a gloss wax sealant. I used this one.
I love how it turned out and I can’t wait to get it hung in my guest bedroom space. It has the perfect color palette and will add to my Paris themed space.
