An organized Mud Room

A while ago I had tackled an organizing project, my laundry room & mud room combination.  It was a small space, but with the addition of the shelf over the washer and dryer and baskets up above, it worked a little better.  However, with the renovations in our basement, we made the decision to split the two spaces making this space a mud room exclusively.  Oh am I so glad we did! With the winter weather upon us, it is such a relief to have a larger space to store all the kids gear.  See below for what that same space looks like now.

We started with painting the room Valspar Polished Silver and added a new tile floor.  Adding a chair rail and moldings to the room gave it a more sophisticated look.  Our built-in was backed in bead board and a lift up bench on hinges allows for plenty of concealed storage.  Hooks for coats and baskets above for all of our hats and mittens.

On the other wall, more hooks (you can never have too many!) and our kids art work make it a personal space.

We converted a trunk into a place to store shoes and to sit and put them on by adding a cushion with a fun print.

Finally, a mirror to check you hair and a place for keys as you are running out to the car!

I ♥ our new space!

I hope you can get some ideas to make your space more efficient and usable for  your family!

To life feeling like home!

XO,

Amy
